Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) are food and nutrition experts who can translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. RDNs have a Bachelor's degree (at minimum) in nutrition or dietetics, complete a 9-12 month internship approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, successfully pass a national exam, and participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain the RDN credential. Dietitians work in a variety of settings – community, clinical, food service, research, consultant, etc. Many dietitians acquire additional certifications based on their area of expertise.
